E-Commerce Solutions

The term "eCommerce" generally means providing complete ordering and transaction
processing online. There are 3 easy steps involved in setting up your desertWEB site
   to conduct eCommerce seamlessly.

Step 1: Merchant Accounts and Credit Card Processing

Obtaining a Merchant Account
If you need a merchant account, we can help you sent one up at preferential rates through our special arrangement with a leading bank. Because we work directly with an "Internet Friendly" Bank (and avoid middlemen), our clients receive expedited processing and rates that are among the lowest in the Industry. You may also wish to check with your local bank for rates on a Merchant Account. Be sure to specify that it must support Cybercash or Authorize.net if you want automated online processing (as opposed to keying order manually into a terminal). The Merchant Account provided by our recommended Bank gives you your choice of automated processing with Cybercash or Authorize.net (both of which our servers support). Call or email sales@desertweb.com for more information on Merchant Accounts.

Automated "Real-Time" Credit Card Processing

Our hosting packages allow clients to process credit cards on-line using your choice of CyberCash or Authorize.net. Both allow on-line processing of orders, as opposed to collecting credit card information and then manually processing the transactions. Both have been servicing credit cards securely over the Internet since 1995, and work with leading financial institutions and payment processing networks. Their services are high-quality, convenient, and easy to use. Click on the icons above to visit their respective websites.

Once you have secured your merchant account and setup an account with one of the above
gateways, contact our Technical Support Dept. and we will enable the appropriate system on our servers.

Other Shopping Carts
In addition, we support any third party cart that runs on Unix/Linux. Popular Shopping Carts include Perl based carts such as Minivend. We also have the Miva Empresa Engine installed on our servers and support the Miva Merchant shopping cart system.

Miva has the advantage of being completely web-based and does not require programming knowledge. Miva can be purchased outright  for $495 and does not require an additional monthly fee. However, there is a $50 setup fee for us to install it for you on our servers. You can take a test drive of Miva Merchant using the following link:

Basic Secure Order Forms
For sites that have only a few products and don't need a shopping cart, you can simply create your order form using a standard html form and then use the link we give you to our  FREE Secure Server which is included with Small Business and larger accounts. No need to pay extra for a Digital Certificate because we allow you to share ours! (Note: the shared certificate does not work with Ala Cart or third-party Shopping Carts).

Step 3 - Security and SSL Encryption

Secure Server
Transferring information securely over the internet is the key to the e-commerce revolution on the web. We give our clients a secure server using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) so they can offer their customers safe and secure transaction processing while doing business with them. We use the Apache-SSL software, which comes with all Small Business or larger packages.

You also need a Digital Certificate for your domain which can be obtained from Thawte Consulting (http://thawte.com), OR, you can share our Digital Certificate at no extra charge. We support Digital Certificates from Thawte, Verisign, or Equifax.

The purpose of a secure server is to encrypt the information clients enter in forms on their browser before it is sent to the server. Our servers use 128 bit encryption, which is the highest level of security available for civilian purposes. This keeps your customer's information as private as technology will allow.

Password Protected Pages
Our clients can restrict web access to their site or to individual pages. If you wants to have a family section or perhaps a subscription-only section of your website, you can easily specify certain pages (or whole sections) to require a username and password from anyone trying to visit those pages. You can manage usernames and passwords through our Web-Based customer control  panel.
